Long Island Man Sentenced to Over 15 Years in Prison for Distributing Child Pornography to Minors

LEV L. DASSIN, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that CARL LIEDKE, 62, of Seaford, Long Island, New York, was sentenced today in White Plains federal court by United States District Court Judge STEPHEN C. ROBINSON to 188 months’ imprisonment for distributing child pornography. According to court records, LIEDKE’s guilty plea, and statements made during LIEDKE’s sentencing:

In early 2008 LIEDKE made contact, via a chat room called “I Love Older Men,” with what he believed to be two different 15-yearold girls. The “girls” were actually portrayed by an undercover detective with the Westchester County Police. LIEDKE engaged in a series of electronic and telephonic communications with the first “girl,” during which he sent images of child pornography as well as pictures of himself, and discussed his desire to have sex with the “girl” at his home or at a hotel near her residence, a boat, or while traveling. LIEDKE also had electronic discussions with the second “girl” about her coming to his home to have sex with him.

LIEDKE was arrested at his home in Seaford, Long Island, on May 8, 2008. At the time of his arrest, LIEDKE admitted that he had contemplated having sex with the second “girl” and had bought birth control pills and condoms that were found in his apartment for his meeting with the “girl.” LIEDKE also admitted to chatting online with at least two other girls he knew to be between the ages of 14 and 16.

Mr. DASSIN praised the efforts of the Westchester County Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crimes Task Force in connection with this investigation.

Assistant United States Attorney ANNA M. SKOTKO is in charge of the prosecution.
