Bronx Man Convicted of Armed Bank Robbery of a JP Morgan Chase Bank in Ardsley, New York

MICHAEL J. GARCIA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced DARRYL HARRIS, a/k/a“Darrell Harris,” of the Bronx, New York, was found guilty by a federal jury in White Plains, New York, of conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery and armed bank robbery of a JP Morgan Chase Bank in Ardsley, New York, following a four-day trial before United States District Judge KENNETH M. KARAS.

As demonstrated by the evidence at trial:

On October 11, 2007, DARRYL HARRIS drove with CHRISTINA DAWN DAVIS and GREGORY HARRIS to the JP Morgan Chase Bank located at 875 Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley, New York. Wearing masks, DARRYL HARRIS and GREGORY HARRIS entered the bank. Inside the bank, GREGORY HARRIS, grabbed a bank employee and forced the employee to the floor. While GREGORY HARRIS held bank employees and customers at gunpoint, DARRYL HARRIS jumped onto and over the top of the teller counter, forced another bank employee to open the teller drawers, and proceeded to take more than $21,000. DARRYL HARRIS and GREGORY HARRIS left the bank and fled with DAVIS who was waiting for them in a car outside the bank.

DARRYL HARRIS was found guilty on both counts of a twocount Indictment – one count of conspiring to commit armed bank robbery and one count of armed bank robbery. At sentencing, DARRYL HARRIS faces a potential total maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years on the two counts on which he was found guilty.

To date, the investigation of the Ardsley bank robbery has resulted in the prosecution and conviction of three other individuals: GREGORY HARRIS, CHRISTINA DAVIS, and HALEEM HARRIS, another co-conspirator, each of whom pleaded guilty to related federal charges. On July 21, 2008, Judge KARAS sentenced GREGORY HARRIS to 70 months’ imprisonment for his participation in the robbery. CHRISTINA DAVIS is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge KARAS on October 10, 2008. HALEEM HARRIS is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge STEPHEN C. ROBINSON on January 7, 2009.

Mr. GARCIA praised the efforts and assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Ardsley Police Department, and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.

Assistant United States Attorneys ANNA M. SKOTKO and JOHN P. COLLINS, JR. are in charge of the prosecution.
