New York SAC Todd P. Letcher to Retire

On June 30, 2008, Todd P. Letcher, the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's New York Field Office, Special Operations Division, will retire from FBI service. SAC Letcher, a 22-year veteran of the FBI, has been named Executive Director of Security for the New York Yankee’s new stadium. SAC Letcher will join the New York Yankees organization in July 2008.

Mr. Letcher entered on duty with the FBI as a special agent in June 1986. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to the Atlanta Division. While there, he investigated white-collar and violent crime, and served as a member of the SWAT team. In January 1995, he was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent and transferred to FBI Headquarters, where he was assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigative Division.

In late 1995, Mr. Letcher was asked to serve as a Special Assistant to former FBI Director Louis Freeh, and in May 1997, he joined the Inspection Division. In August 1998, he was promoted to field supervisor as the Supervisory Senior Resident Agent of the Greensboro Resident Agency within the Charlotte Division. In that capacity, Mr. Letcher coordinated all of the FBI's investigative programs within a 13-county territory.

In February 2000, Mr. Letcher was designated Coordinator of the Southeast Bomb Task Force with responsibility for the investigation of FBI Top Ten fugitive Eric Rudolph. In November 2002, he was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office. Upon the capture of Eric Rudolph on May 31, 2003, he was asked by Director Mueller to oversee the FBI's role in the prosecution of Rudolph in both Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Letcher was later promoted to Special Assistant to Deputy Director John S. Pistole at FBI Headquarters. In February 2007, he returned to the New York Field Office as Special Agent in Charge of the Special Operations Division.

During his FBI career, Mr. Letcher received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award (2006), the FBI's Meritorious Service Award (2001), two U.S. Department of Justice Certificates of Merit, and a Letter of Commendation from former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno. Mr. Letcher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business. Prior to joining the FBI, he was employed for six years by Exxon Company USA in the Marketing Department.
